REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Remove:
- the retaining clips on the driver side dashboard lower trim,
- the driver side dashboard lower trim.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART CONCERNED
WARNING
Handle the brake light switch (2) with care.
Actuate piston (4), only, to adjust the dimension (X).
- Disconnect the brake light switch connector (1).
- Turn the brake light switch (2) a quarter of a turn anti-clockwise.
- Remove the brake light switch.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION
When removing and refitting or when replacing the brake light switch
WARNING
Handle the brake light switch (3) with care.
Act on piston (4), only, to adjust dimension (X).
The brake light switch must always be replaced:
- if the piston (4) is separated from the switch (3),
- if the dimension (X) has to be adjusted more than 3 times during the operation.
- Measure the dimension (X) of the piston (4). If the dimension (X) is less than 19 mm, carefully pull the end of the piston to adjust the dimension (X) to between 19 mm minimum and 20 mm maximum.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED
- Depress the brake pedal by hand.
- Position the brake light switch on the pedal assembly.
- Lock the brake light switch by turning it a quarter of a turn clockwise.
- Carefully follow the return of the brake pedal.
Note: The brake pedal switch has an automatic adjustment which adapts to the pedal position.
The automatic adjustment makes a clicking noise when in operation.
- Connect the brake light switch connector.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Check that the brake light switch is operating correctly:
- depress the brake pedal to switch on the lights,
- release the brake pedal to extinguish the lights.
- Refit:
- the driver side dashboard lower trim.
- the retaining clips on the driver side dashboard lower trim,

Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 392, 02A, Lifting equipment).
Fit the tool
Brake compensator: Check
WITHOUT ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
CHECK
Position the vehicle on a four-post lift equipped with
an intermediate lifting system (see Vehicle: Towing
and lifting) (MR 392, 02A, Lifting).
I - CHECKIN
Parking brake lever: Removal - Refitting
REMOVAL

Disconnect the battery (see Battery: Removal - Refitting)

IMPORTANT
Before doing any work on a safety system component,
be sure to lock the airbag computer using the
Diagnostic tool (see Airbag and pretensioners:
Precautions for the repair). When this function is
activated, all the trigger lines are inhibited

1/3 and 2/3 rear bench seat base trim: Removal - Refitting
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
Lift up the rear bench seat base.
Remove the rear bench seat base at (1).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
Unclip the retaining strips (2).
Remove the seat trim and foam.
