Renault Clio: Rear brake disc: Removal - Refitting
DISC BRAKE

Brake discs cannot be reground. If there is excessive
scoring or wear, they will need to be replaced (see
30A, General information, Brake: Specifications, 30A-9).
When replacing a brake disc, be sure to replace the
disc on the opposite side.
Be sure to replace the brake pads if the brake discs are
being replaced.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 392, 02A, Lifting equipment).
- Remove:
- the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, 35A-1),
- the rear brake pads (see 33A, Rear axle components,
Rear brake pads: Removal - Refitting, 33A-3),
- the calliper mountings (see 33A, Rear axle components,
Rear brake calliper mounting: Removal
- Refitting, 33A-10).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED

- Remove:
- the hub covers (1)
- the stub axle nuts (2),
- the brake discs.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION
- Clean the brake discs using a spray.
- Clean the stub axle.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Refit:
- the brake discs,
- the stub axle nuts.
- Torque tighten the stub axle nuts (175 Nm).
- Refit the hub cover plug.
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Refit:
- the calliper mounting (see 33A, Rear axle components,
Rear brake calliper mounting: Removal -
Refitting, 33A-10),
- the rear brake pads (see 33A, Rear axle components,
Rear brake pads: Removal - Refitting, 33A-3),
- the rear wheels (see 35A, Wheels and tyres,
Wheel: Removal - Refitting, 35A-1).

Remove the rear wheel concerned (see 35A, Wheels
and tyres, Wheel: Removal - Refitting, 35A-1).
II - CHECKING OPERATION FOR PART

Note:
Use a Palmer type tool to check the thickness of the
disc.

Position the Palmer tool (1) to measure the disc thickness.

Measure the thickness of the disc at 4 points in order

Before towing, unlock the steering
column: with the clutch depressed,
engage first gear (lever in position N
or R for vehicles with automatic gearboxes),
insert the RENAULT card in the
card reader, then press the engine start
button for two seconds.
Reposition the lever to neutral (position
DP0 or JH3 or JR5 or TL4
WARNING
A gearbox oil leak at the driveshaft may destroy it.
WARNING
Always replace seals whenever the driveshaft is
removed.

Grease the base of the bearing using BR 2 +
grease to prevent the bearing from sticking.
