Renault Clio: Side impact sensor: Removal - Refitting
FRONT SIDE AIRBAG or FRONT SIDE + CURTAIN AIRBAG

IMPORTANT
Consult the safety and cleanliness advice and operation

REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
IMPORTANT
To avoid any risk of triggering when working on
or near a pyrotechnic component (airbags or pretensioners),
lock the airbag computer using the
diagnostic tool.
When this function is activated, all the trigger
lines are inhibited and the airbag warning light on
the instrument panel lights up continuously (ignition
on).
- Lock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic tool
(see Fault finding - Replacement of components)
(88C, Airbags and pretensioners).
- Disconnect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery:
Removal - Refitting, 80A-1).
- Remove the lower B-pillar trim (see B-pillar trim:
Removal - Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED

- Disconnect the connector.
- Undo the sensor bolt (1).
- Remove the sensor.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Always replace the side impact sensors.

- Position the sensor using its positioning pin (2).
- Torque tighten the side impact sensor bolt (8 Nm).
- Connect the connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION.
- Refit the B-pillar trim (see B-pillar trim: Removal -
Refitting) (71A, Body internal trim).
- Connect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal
- Refitting, 80A-1).
IMPORTANT
To avoid a fault with or even triggering of pyrotechnic
components (airbags or pretensioners),
check the airbag computer using the diagnostic
tool.
- Unlock the airbag computer using the Diagnostic
tool (see Fault finding - Replacement of components)
(88C, Airbags and pretensioners).
Note:
These sensors do not require programming with
the Diagnostic tool.

USING THE DASHBOARD CROSS MEMBER
REMOVAL TOOL Car. 1765
Use this tool as indicated in the dashboard removal
procedure.
Fit the tool Car. 1765 as far as the stop (10).
Screw the rod (11) onto

With the ignition on, turn button 1:
position C to adjust the left-hand
door mirror;
position E to adjust the right-hand
door mirror;
D is the inactive position.
For safety reasons, carry
out any adjustments when
the vehicle is
K4J or K4M
IMPORTANT
Catalytic converters contain ceramic fibres: these
are contained within a closed unit, and cannot disperse.
Cutting or drilling catalytic converters is prohibited.
