Renault Clio: Braking computer: Removal - Refitting

Note:
Removal of the ESP or ABS computer is allowed.
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (MR 392, 02A, Lifting equipment).
- Remove the entire hydraulic unit (see Hydraulic brake unit: Removal -
Refitting).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED

- Remove:
- the (1) braking computer bolts on the pressure
modulation unit,
- the braking computer (2).
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATIONS OPERATION

- Do not clean the pressure modulation unit (3).
- Always replace the braking computer bolts.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- Refit the braking computer, holding it by its edge.
Note:
Do not try to force the braking computer into
place when refitting; it should fit in without any
resistance.

- Fit the hydraulic pump (4) securely onto the pressure modulation unit
(5).
Note:
When a new braking computer is being fitted,
remember to attach the interconnection fork (6)
between the pressure modulation unit and the
braking computer.
- Refit the braking computer bolts on the pressure
modulation unit.
- Torque tighten the braking computer bolts (3 Nm)
using the (Mot. 1608).
III - FINAL OPERATION.
- Refit the entire hydraulic unit (see Hydraulic brake unit: Removal -
Refitting).
- Configure the speedometer index using the Diagnostic
tool (see Fault finding - Replacement of
components) (MR 394, 38C, Anti-lock braking system).
- Clear any faults stored by the braking computer.
- Carry out a road test to confirm the repair.

Once the engine is switched off, you
will see “Journey record” displayed on
the screen 3, enabling you to view information
relating to your last journey.
This indicates:
average fuel consumption;
number of miles/kilometres travelled;
number of miles/kilometres saved.
