Renault Clio: Headlight bulb: Removal - Refitting
DOCUMENTATION PHASE 1
REMOVAL
DISCHARGE LAMPS
IMPORTANT
To prevent eye injuries:
- do not look at a xenon bulb when lit (voltage
when lit 20000 V),
- do not light a bulb which has not been fitted into
its headlight.
IMPORTANT
To prevent burns, wait until the " computers -
power unit " assemblies are cold before removal.
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
The side light bulbs, dipped headlight bulbs, main
beam headlight bulbs and additional cornering
light bulbs require removal of the headlight
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Disconnect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery:
Removal - Refitting, 80A-1).
- Remove:
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
(35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the front section of the front wheel arch liners (see
Front wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting)
(55A, Exterior protection),
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the headlight (see 80B, Headlights, Headlight:
Removal - Refitting, 80B-7).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
1 - Direction indicator bulb
- Unlock the bulb holder (1) by turning it a quarter of a
turn anti-clockwise.
- Remove the direction indicator bulb from the bulb
holder.
2 - Side light bulbs
- Remove the sealing cover (2).
- Unclip the bulb holder from the side light bulb at (3).
- Remove the side light bulb from the bulb holder.
3 - Main beam headlight bulbs
- Remove the sealing cover (4).
- Disconnect the connector from the main beam headlight
bulb.
- Unlock the clip (5) of the main beam headlight bulb.
- Remove the main beam headlight bulb.
4 - Dipped beam headlight bulb
- Remove the sealing cover (6).
WITHOUT DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Disconnect the connector from the dipped beam
headlight bulb.
- Unclip the clip of the dipped beam headlight bulb at (7).
- Remove the dipped beam headlight bulb.
DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Remove the condenser (8) by turning it 45 degrees
anti-clockwise.
- Unclip the clip (9) from the dipped beam headlight
bulb.
WARNING
To prevent any breakages, handle the bulb by its
base. If you should touch the glass, clean it with
alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
- Remove the dipped beam headlight bulb.
5 - Additional cornering light bulb
- Remove the sealing cover (10).
- Disconnect the connector from the additional cornering
light bulb.
- Unlock the clip of the additional cornering light bulb at (11).
- Remove the additional cornering light bulb.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
Note:
When replacing a bulb, only use approved bulbs.
DISCHARGE LAMPS
WARNING
To prevent any breakages, handle the bulb by its
base. If you should touch the glass, clean it with
alcohol and a lint-free cloth.
WARNING
The bulb must be handled with care.
The external conductor (12) is very fragile and
must not be damaged.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Direction indicator bulb
- Refit the direction indicator bulb on the bulb holder.
- Lock the bulb holder by turning it a quarter of turn
clockwise.
2 - Side light bulbs
- Refit the side light bulb on the bulb holder.
- Clip the side light bulb holder onto the headlight.
- Refit the sealing cover.
3 - Main beam headlight bulbs
- Refit the main beam headlight bulb.
- Lock the clip of the main beam headlight bulb.
- Connect the connector of the main beam headlight
bulb.
- Refit the sealing cover.
4 - Dipped beam headlight bulb
WITHOUT DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Refit the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Fasten the clip on the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Connect the connector to the dipped beam headlight
bulb.
DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Refit the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Fasten the clip on the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Refit the capacitor by turning it an eighth of a turn
clockwise.
5 - Additional cornering light bulb
- Refit the additional cornering light bulb.
- Lock the clip of the additional cornering light bulb.
- Connect the connector of the additional cornering
light bulb.
- Refit the sealing cover.
III - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit the headlight (see 80B, Headlights, Headlight:
Removal - Refitting, 80B-7).
- Lower the vehicle.
DISCHARGE LAMPS
- Connect the battery (see 80A, Battery, Battery: Removal
- Refitting, 80A-1).
- Adjust the headlights (see 80B, Headlights, Headlight:
Adjustment, 80B-9).
- Refit:
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the front section of the front wheel arch liners (see
Front wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting)
(55A, Exterior protection),
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
(35A, Wheels and tyres).
DOCUMENTATION PHASE 2
REMOVAL
Note:
Do not remove the headlight to replace the bulbs.
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
For the left-hand headlight bulbs
- Disconnect the vacuum pipe (1) of the soundproofing unit control
solenoid valve (2).
- Remove the soundproofing unit nuts (3).
- Move aside the soundproofing unit.
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
1 - Direction indicator bulb
- Unlock the bulb holder (4) by turning it a quarter of a
turn anti-clockwise.
- Remove the direction indicator bulb from the bulb
holder.
2 - Side light bulb
- Remove the sealing cover (5).
- Unclip:
- the bulb holder (6) from the headlight,
- the side light bulb from the bulb holder.
3 - Main beam headlight bulbs
- Remove the sealing cover (7).
- Unclip the main beam headlight bulb (8).
- Remove the main beam headlight bulb.
- Disconnect the connector (9) from the main beam
headlight bulb.
4 - Dipped beam headlight bulb
a - Halogen headlight without additional cornering
light
- Remove the sealing cover (10).
- Unclip the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Disconnect the connector (11) from the dipped
beam headlight bulb.
- Remove the dipped beam headlight bulb.
b - Halogen headlight with additional cornering
light
- Remove the sealing cover (12).
- Disconnect the connector (13) from the dipped
beam headlight bulb.
- Unlock the clip (14) from the dipped beam headlight
bulb.
- Remove the dipped beam headlight bulb.
5 - Additional cornering light bulb
- Remove the sealing cover (15).
- Unclip the additional cornering light bulb (16).
- Remove the additional cornering light bulb.
- Disconnect the connector (17) from the additional
cornering light bulb.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING PREPARATION OPERATION
Note:
If the bulbs are changed, only use approved
bulbs.
II - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
1 - Direction indicator bulb
- Refit the direction indicator bulb on the bulb holder.
- Lock the bulb holder by turning it a quarter of turn
clockwise.
2 - Side light bulb
- Clip on:
- the side light bulb onto the bulb holder,
- the side light bulb holder onto the headlight.
- Refit the sealing cover.
3 - Main beam headlight bulbs
- Connect the connector to the main beam headlight
bulb.
- Refit:
- the main beam headlight bulb by clipping it onto the
headlight,
- the sealing cover.
4 - Dipped beam headlight bulb
a - Halogen headlight without additional cornering
light
- Refit the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Connect the connector of the dipped beam headlight.
- Refit the sealing cover.
b - Halogen headlight with additional cornering
light
- Refit the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Fasten the clip on the dipped beam headlight bulb.
- Connect the connector to the dipped beam headlight
bulb.
- Refit the sealing cover.
5 - Additional cornering light bulb
- Connect the connector of the additional cornering
light bulb.
- Refit:
- the additional cornering light bulb by clipping it onto
the headlight,
- the sealing cover.
III - FINAL OPERATION

- Fit the soundproofing unit in place.
- Refit the soundproofing unit nuts.
- Connect the vacuum pipe of the soundproofing unit
control solenoid valve.
Front fog light bulb: Removal - Refitting
FOG LIGHTS
REMOVAL
I - REMOVAL PREPARATION OPERATION
- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:
Towing and lifting) (02A, Lifting equipment).
- Raise the vehicle.
- Unclip the access flap (1).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Disconnect the front fog light connector (2).
- Remove the front fog light bulb (3) anti-clockwise.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
Note:
When replacing a bulb, only use approved bulbs.
- Refit the front fog light bulb clockwise.
- Connect the front fog light connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Clip on the access flap.
- Lower the vehicle.

FOG LIGHTS
REMOVAL

- Position the vehicle on a two-post lift (see Vehicle:

- Remove:
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
(35A, Wheels and tyres),
- the front section of the front wheel arch liners (see
Front wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting)
(55A, Exterior protection),
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection).
II - OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Disconnect the connector (1).
- Remove:
- the bolts (2),
- the fog light.
REFITTING
I - REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART
CONCERNED
- To replace a bulb, use an approved bulb.
- Refit:
- the fog light,
- the fog light bolts.
- Connect the connector.
II - FINAL OPERATION
- Refit:
- the front bumper (see Front bumper: Removal -
Refitting) (55A, Exterior protection),
- the front section of the front wheel arch liners (see
Front wheel arch liner: Removal - Refitting)
(55A, Exterior protection),
- the front wheels (see Wheel: Removal - Refitting)
(35A, Wheels and tyres).
DOCUMENTATION PHASE 1
- Adjust the fog lights using a screwdriver.
DOCUMENTATION PHASE 2
- Adjust the fog lights using a screwdriver.
Side indicator: Removal - Refitting
REMOVAL
OPERATION FOR REMOVAL OF PART
CONCERNED
- Unclip the side indicator (1) by inserting the tool
(Car. 1363) from underneath.
- Remove:
- the side indicator (2) from the bulb holder (3),
- the bulb from the bulb holder.
REFITTING
REFITTING OPERATION FOR PART CONCERNED
Note:
If the bulbs are changed, use approved bulbs.
- Refit:
- the bulb onto the side indicator bulb holder,
- the side indicator on the bulb holder.
- Clip the side indicator onto the front side door.
